The College of Science at the University of Basrah discussed a master’s thesis entitled (Analyzing, Forecasting and Controlling the COVID-19 Pandemic in Iraq through the SIR Model).
The thesis of researcher Hadeer Samir Falih aims to adopt two mathematical models, the standard SIR model and the fractional SIR model, to describe COVID-19 in Iraq, based on official data announced for cases of injury and recovery.
The thesis included a study of the announced data for a period of 455 days to fit the biological parameters of the system. Two optimal control issues were designed to study the epidemic, indicating that it will gradually end over time.
The thesis recommended the necessity of adopting the vaccination, which has a significant impact on reducing infections faster.
