The thesis presented by the student Mustafa Attia Rasan dealt with the effect of a group of parameters on the maximum resistance of columns, such as the compressive strength of concrete and the stress of Iron yield, slenderness ratio, column cross-sectional shape (round and square) and diameter ratio to the thickness, as well as the effect of the length of the shaft on the maximum resistance.
The model of damaged concrete was adopted for concrete, while iron was considered to be fully plastic-elastic.
The thesis aims to evaluate the maximum strength and conductivity of thin steel columns filled with concrete for 240 models.
The thesis concluded that the increase in concrete resistance leads to an increase in the bearing capacity of the columns and at the same time the time caused a decrease in ductility for the shaft. Increasing the yield stress of steel leads to an increase in the bearing capacity of the shaft as well as a decrease in ductility. The results obtained were also compared with the results obtained through the equations installed in the European Code 4, and the search results were slightly higher than the results of the code, which shows that the European Code was more conservative in its results.
