I discussed a PhD thesis at the College of Engineering at the University of Basrah (Optimal Control Strategies for Energy Management in Hybrid Electric Vehicles)
The thesis submitted by the student, Qahtan Adnan Jawad, included the development of an effective modern control system model for parallel hybrid electric cars, and a proposal was made. Fuzzy logic control strategy to manage engine torque in order to achieve better control effect. Ambiguous rules are set based on the inputs of power demand, battery charge status and driving mode. A high-level supervisory control system has been developed*څڑ based on air pollution indicators to control the torque distribution between the combustion engine and the electric motor to drive the vehicle.
Four main tracks were chosen to develop and build a leadership course in the center of Basra city. Moreover, the practical part focused on all the data to build. And the development of driving courses based on a GPS tracking device connected to an electronic control system
The thesis aims to propose hybrid electric cars instead of traditional vehicles in order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution.
The thesis concluded the comparison between all the tracks in the normal and economic situation, where the results of the comparison indicated that the exhaustive track recorded less exhaust emissions than the other tracks. While the second track recorded a decrease in fuel consumption compared to the other tracks. In addition, it was noted that the third track achieved the highest battery charging rate compared to all tracks in the normal and economic driving mode.
