The College of Education for Human Sciences at the University of Basrah discussed a PhD thesis titled (Homeland and Exile in the Poetry of Khazal Al-Majidi, Sorrows of the Iraqi Year).
Researcher Jaber Hussein Jabr Al-Atwani's thesis dealt with the topic of homeland and exile, trying to delve into the prevalent poetic culture in the texts contained in the collection (Sorrows of the Iraqi Year) by the poet Khazal Al-Majidi.
The thesis aims to express the topic of homeland and exile, two topics that have not been studied together, as well as the abundant production of Al-Majidi.
The thesis concluded that the poet was able to embody the place by recalling all the places he passed through to be a container for his historical or current visions in the homeland and exile and to document an important and articulated era of the bloody Iraqi history in an exciting and clear poetic style in different forms.
