I discussed a doctoral thesis at the College of Engineering at the University of Basrah (a practical and analytical study of the behavior and resistance of reinforced concrete brackets poured using self-compacting concrete containing reconstituted concrete as coarse aggregate)
The thesis presented by the student Emad El-Din Abdel-Amir Suleiman included two parts: experimental and theoretical parts. Both parts dealt with the effect of using recycled concrete aggregate RCA as a partial substitute for coarse aggregate in self-compacting concrete on the structural behavior of reinforced concrete brackets in the experimental part. Four replacement rates were considered 0%. , 25%, 50%, 75% All concrete mixtures with and without RCA used in the research were designed to have approximately equal amount of cylindrical compressive strength. Twenty-nine models of reinforced concrete brackets were poured and tested, one of these models was tested as an experimental model and the remaining models were divided into Four groups (A,B,C,D)
This study aims to examine the ability of crushing and reusing demolition waste as coarse aggregate in the production of new concrete known as recycled concrete.
The thesis concluded that group A, which was selected with a ratio of a/d of 0.34, shows that the use of (25%, 50%, 75%) of recycled aggregate leads to a reduction in the final load.
As for group B, we can conclude that the failure pattern in the concrete shoulder that does not contain horizontal reinforcement was sudden and more fragile than other concrete brackets that contain horizontal reinforcement.
Group C, it was observed that an increase in the gradual tapering ratio leads to a final increase in pregnancy
Group D It was observed that the increase in the amount of main reinforcement from two skewers with a diameter of 10 mm to three skewers with a diameter of 12 mm leads to an increase in the final load, but when increasing the main reinforcement from two skewers with a diameter of 10 mm to two skewers with a diameter of 16 mm led to an increase in the final load by 22.61%
