The Continuing Education Unit at the College of Education for Human Sciences organized a workshop on (Urban Planning for Cities and its Impact on Crisis Management) with the participation of researchers and specialists
The workshop dealt with the subject of urban planning as a general concept and what are the most important definitions that expressed the point of view of specialists in cities and regions, which made it clear that planning is the creation of an appropriate climate that allows communities to find the necessary means to achieve a suitable living framework for the city's residents
The workshop included several axes, namely, levels of planning, elements of planning, stages of planning, urban crises (Basra city case), obstacles and treatments
The workshop discussed in detail the planning of the city of Basra and its crises, which were represented by random housing and infrastructure, the unexpected increase in population, unemployment, crime and chaos in the general appearance.
The workshop reached the necessity of implementing the basic plan for the city and addressing the problem of overtaking according to the world’s experiences, including Egypt, providing infrastructure services and providing job opportunities to end the manifestations of unemployment and crime.
