The Department of Geology at the College of Science organized a panel discussion entitled (Fine and stratigraphic analysis of the formation of the supervisor in the Tuba oil field in southern Iraq). The seminar, in which the researcher Serra Kazem Abbas lectured, aims to diagnose in an accurate and detailed manner the fossils to form the supervisor in the Toba oil field, and to determine the petrographic characteristics and facies of the rocky units, leading to the diagnosis of depositional environments and the identification of all the modulatory processes and their environments affecting the formation that affected the formation.
The study included an introduction to the composition of the supervisor, its geological and stratigraphic nature, and the field work of two wells (TU-5, TU,-12)) and laboratory, clarification of the wells of the study area on a topographic map and drawing a geological stratigraphic column for the fossils found in the study fields.
The results reached a diagnosis and a statement of the fossils found in the fine rocky slices of the study area, which include foraminifera of its two types, floating and benthic, mollusks and other types of organisms, in addition to identifying four main types of micro-facies, which are waky limestone facies, compacted limestone facies, granular limestone facies and facies. Clay limestone and its secondary facies.
