A higher diploma research at the College of Science at the University of Basrah discussed an estimate of some types of hydrocarbon compounds in some types of bottled water in Basra Governorate.
Mojtaba Sami Matar's research included investigating the presence of "PAHs16" compounds in some types of bottled water.
The research aims to estimate some types of hydrocarbon compounds in some types of bottled water in the markets of Basra Governorate and to know their sources.
The research concluded the presence of aromatic compounds in the water in low concentrations that did not exceed the permissible limits. The results showed that the source of PAHs16 in the water is mostly the result of oil pollution and the result of incomplete combustion of the fuel.
The research recommended conducting a comprehensive and periodic study of drinking water sources, as well as bottled water in Iraq, and conducting analyzes for all pollutants entering water sources, especially these compounds.
