A master’s thesis at the College of Engineering at the University of Basrah examined (controlling the speed of an induction motor using a genetic algorithm to obtain the integral relative gain values) by the student (Rawa Kazem Sakran)
The thesis dealt with analyzing the performance of the three-phase induction motor with the direct torque control system based on the modulation method, as this system is one of the high-performance types of control of the induction motor in order to improve the high fluctuations of torque and flux in the stable state, which is one of the disadvantages of the traditional direct torque control system. This system has three integrative proportional controllers, the first controller is used for the motor speed, while the other two controllers are used for torque and flux, as well as for generating two components of voltage, one toward the direct axis and the other perpendicular to it respectively, due to its ease of design, simplicity of structure and low cost.
