A master's thesis at the College of Engineering at the University of Basrah examined (nonlinear analysis by finite element method of reinforced concrete cantilever beams) for the student "Mohammed Saber Abdel Hassan"
The thesis dealt with a theoretical study using the finite element method through an electronic program "ANSYS version 16.1" for a three-dimensional representation of forty-six samples of normal and high-strength concrete. The samples were divided into four groups based on four practical studies. The first group included 14 samples of high-strength concrete that It was divided into five sub-groups, and the ratio of the main rebar and secondary iron was adopted. The second group included 6 samples of high-strength concrete, which were divided into two groups. The variables were the compressive strength of concrete and the amount of main and secondary rebar. The third group included 20 samples of made cantilever beams. of ordinary concrete and it was divided into 7 sub-groups, and the fourth and last group included 6 samples of cantilever beams made of ordinary concrete that were divided into two groups to study the effect of the presence of secondary reinforcing steel
The thesis concluded that there is a good agreement between the maximum load values obtained using the finite element method and the practical values that were reached by the researchers. What are the normal strength reinforced concrete cantilevers as it was noticed that the increase in the concrete resistance leads to an increase in the bearing of the support, and that reducing the ratio of the shear space to the effective depth leads to an increase in the bearing of the reinforced concrete beam.
