Dr. Safa Khairy Jaaz from the Department of Materials Engineering at the College of Engineering at the University of Basra participated in a joint research with Dr. Kazem Mahdi Sharamah from the General Directorate of Electrical Energy Production in Basrah with Professor Sam Evans, Dr. Rhys Blaine and Dr. Alastair Clark from Cardiff University in the United Kingdom in the International Conference on Mechanics Advanced materials and equipment held at Shahid Chamran University in Iran, which was held on January 31, 2018
And Jaaz indicated that the research is under the title
( Fatigue Damage Characterization in Welded Plates using Acoustic Emission and Digital Image Correlation )
Determining the phase of failure in welded joints subjected to wear under the influence of fatigue stress has been dealt with by modern methods such as acoustic emission technology and digital image link technology. The research showed the success of these methods in determining the phase of failure and the possibility of using these techniques in the continuous monitoring of critical installations (oil and electrical) and giving a warning before the final failure occurs.
