The College of Engineering at the University of Basrah organized a seminar for graduate student Esraa Jassem in the Department of Civil Engineering, Muhammad, entitled "Nonlinear analysis by finite element method for the structural behavior of slotted concrete slabs reinforced with carbon fiber reinforced polymer sheets".
The work included a study of concrete slabs that contain one eccentric and central opening of different dimensions, as well as multiple openings reinforced with .CFRP tapes, and a study of the behavior of unreinforced slabs and slab without openings.
Jassim showed in her study that the presence of holes in the non-reinforced models led to a decrease in the final bearing capacity by 35.9%_3.9% compared with the slab without holes, and the slab that contains one hole showed a significant decrease.
The results of the examination showed that the use of CFRP depends on the form of reinforcement, which leads to an improvement in the crack load by 6% - 77% and 2% - 40.8%.
Jassim recommended studying the concrete piles with openings in different shapes, dimensions and locations, and doing other tests for various loads, centered load, four load points. In addition to studying the effect of CFRP and GFRP factors for inclined columns on concrete piles with openings
