A scientific study, titled “The effect of glutamine supplementation on some histopathological and physiological variables of male rats with hypothyroidism induced by propylthiouracil (PTU)”, was prepared by Dr. Maha Khalil Ibrahim and researcher Mai Khairallah Ali at the College of Science - University of Basrah.

The results of the study concluded that glutamine has an effective role in reducing the complications of hypothyroidism and healing the gland from the damage caused by PTU, and therefore we noticed a positive change in the level of thyroid hormones, as well as the level of iron and ferritin.
