A master's thesis at the College of Science, University of Basrah, discussed a physiological study of atorvastatin on the toxicity caused by D-galactose in laboratory rats.
The thesis of researcher Sadiq Shehab Ahmed included clarification of the toxic effect of a high dose of artuvastatin and the therapeutic effect of low doses of atorvastatin on the toxicity of D-galactose in the organs of the liver, kidneys and adrenal glands.
The thesis concluded that atorvastatin at a dose of 20 mg/kg was the best and optimal dose to reduce liver and kidney toxicity in laboratory rats.
This study also showed using different doses of atorvastatin for different periods, as well as to determine the therapeutic effects of this drug.
