A scientific study, titled (the effect of chemical antagonism of the alcoholic extract of Nerium oleander L on the growth and development of Arabidopsis thaliana (L.) Heynh), was prepared by Dr. Enas Sabah Muhammad Sharif and Dr. Sahar Abdul-Abbas Al-Saadi from the College of Science at the University of Basrah.
The study, which was published in the Caspian Journal of Environmental Sciences classified within Scopus containers Q3 classification number ISSN 1735-3033, showed that the chemical antagonism, which is the result of the effect of chemical compounds of one plant on another plant, has an effect on the phenotypic, biochemical and anatomical characteristics.
The results of the study concluded that low concentrations of alcoholic extract of oleander flowers caused a stimulating effect, while high concentrations caused an inhibitory effect in the phenotypic characteristics as well as changes in the anatomical characteristics of the stem and root of A. thaliana.
