The College of Science at the University of Basrah discussed a master’s thesis titled (Taxonomic and Environmental Study of Fossils for Selected Areas of the Marshes of Southern Iraq).
The study of the researcher Sura Asaad Salim Al-Shraideh included a general introduction about the marshes of southern Iraq and their geographical and tectonic nature, climate and field work to collect surface samples and pulp for seven sites of the marshes, starting from Basra to Nasiriyah.
The results showed that there is a great similarity of the biota foraminifera in all the sites of the study area.
The study recommends conducting environmental studies in a broader way for the life groups because they represent a guide to the various environmental factors at the present time and in previous years as well, and the expansion of study areas.
