A master's thesis at the College of Fine Arts at University of Basrah examined the discourse of renewal and the pragmatism of performance in contemporary Iraqi ceramics.
The thesis presented by the researcher Ali Hussein Nasser Al-Battat included the subject of ceramic art and its working mechanisms, which continue to dominate in the scientific aspect and chemical development, and the addition of new methods in the formation and glaze.
The thesis discussed the subject of ceramics, which presented a large sum of philosophical concepts in its artistic productions to prove that it is one of the most important arts of formation and does not depart from it as an artistic or aesthetic content, but rather that it gathered all at the same time.
The thesis aims to identify the discourse of renewal and the pragmatism of performance in contemporary Iraqi ceramics.
The thesis concluded that being influenced by the popular and religious cultural heritage helped create an independent artistic personality for the Iraqi potter, a clear-cut personality and it can be pointed out that this ceramic work is an Iraqi work without paying attention to the name of the potter. That is why we see the ceramic products of the Iraqi potters, despite the different sects of society, with clear basic foundations and bearing a lot of stability.
