The Department of Ecology, College of Science, University of Basra, organized a seminar on the use of "pholcidae" spider webs to monitor air pollutants in Basra Governorate.
The seminar, in which the postgraduate / master's student (Huda Zuhair Taher) lectured, dealt with the determination of air pollutants from heavy metals and hydrocarbons in six different regions of Basra Governorate.
The study recommended testing other hosts of spiders to monitor air pollution and the need to intensify vegetation cover, especially in the city center, to reduce pollution resulting from vehicle exhaust and industrial emissions.
