A scientific study at the College of Science at the University of Basrah, prepared by Dr. Enas Abdul Razzaq Al-Mallah, Dr. Ahmed Salem Musa and researcher Aqil Rahman Hassan, studied (Tracking Lines in Magnetic Sources Depending on Atmospheric Magnetic Data: A Case Study in Salman Basin and its Surrounding Southern Desert, Iraq).
The study was published in the Iraqi Geology Journal, which is classified within Scopus containers, classification number Q3.
The study involved using available satellite imagery and atmospheric magnetic data to investigate the boundaries of geological structures.
The results of the study concluded that the main deep faults follow the general trend of the main faults that formed the Salman Basin. The study of the interpretation of magnetism data also showed two main groups of lines detected using (CET and TDR filter). The first group is in the direction of (NW-NE) where it is perpendicular to the wide and long structures, while the second group is in the direction of (NS-EW).
