
The President of the University of Basrah, Professor. Dr. Saad Shaheen Hamadi, opened the sessions of the first unified assessment conference held by the colleges of the medical group, the College of Medicine, the College of Dentistry, the College of Al-Zahraa Medicine , the College of Pharmacy and the College of Nursing, which was held In the premises of the College of Medicine today, Tuesday 20/9/2022
The opening included a blessed recitation of the Holy Qur'an, mourning for the souls of the martyrs, followed by the national anthem.
During the opening, Professor. Dr. Saad Shaheen Hamadi, President of the University of Basrah, gave a speech In which he valued the role of the university, the deans of the colleges of the medical group, the committees supervising the follow-up and implementation of the unified assessment examination mechanism, and the great role played by the College of Computer Science and Information Technology for taking charge of the unified assessment examinations.
Hamadi stressed the Ministry's approval of the success of the unified assessment examinations and the testimony of the ministerial team charged with following up the examinations with the success of this experiment, in addition to the success rates achieved by the students.
Dr. Amer Al-Ameer, head of the ministerial team for examinations follow-up, stated through his opening electronic lecture “Digital Education and Transformation in Iraqi Medical Education” about the success of the first experience in Iraq after It faced some difficulties, and it was necessary to take this decision in order to fortify the education and its quality after the failures that occurred In University education in the past years due to the Corona pandemic.
The Dean of Al-Zahrah College of Medicine, Dr. Mazin Hawazz Abdel Ridha, discussed through his lecture “E-learning: Obstacles and Solutions” the difficulties encountered by e-learning, mentioning some of its advantages that facilitate and speed up receiving information and providing curriculum within a short period of time, not to mention the absence of the need for large-sized classrooms. To accommodate the huge numbers of students, its negatives were the absence of the human interaction, discussions, not opening the camera between the student and the academic teacher, and some cases of hacking websites.
Dr. Salma Abdel-Baqi, Dean of the College of Computer Science and Information Technology, spoke about technologies and electronic platforms.
Dr. Mortada Al Musafer, Dean of the College of Medicine, gave a lecture on the importance of the unified assessment examinations and how this examination became a main condition for students' graduation
The morning session concluded with a lecture by the Dean of the College of Dentistry, Assistant. Professor Dr. Fateh Al-Khakani, as he clearly stated : “The Ministerial Unified Examination In the College of Dentistry: Obstacles and Solutions,” during which he reviewed the questionnaire for students and teachers and their views on the acceptance or rejection of this experiment and the levels of success achieved by this experiment.
