The Department of Ecology at the College of Science at the University of Basra organized a workshop on endangered birds in Iraq and conservation measures
The workshop aimed to identify the endangered species of birds in Iraq, the dangers of the threat, and the necessary measures to protect them.
The workshop, in which Dr. Muhanna Qassem Habib lectured, included the types of threatened birds according to the red list issued by the International Union for Conservation of Nature, including 36 species belonging to eight orders.
The workshop recommended spreading environmental awareness by enacting the necessary legislation, breeding in captivity, resettlement, restoring target species, protecting important sites for birds and combating exotic and invasive species.
