The Faculty of Medicine, University of Basrah, discussed a master's thesis evaluating the role of 1.5 anhydroglucitol in type 2 diabetics who have sickle cell anaemia status. The research presented by student Elaf Abdullah Khamis aims to assess the role of 1.5 anhydroglucitol as a means of monitoring diabetes control in sickle cell anaemia patients compared to HbA1c. The research concluded that there is an inverse relationship between the level of 1.5 anhydroglucitol and HbA1c in diabetics (diabetes with sickle cell anaemia and diabetes only), that is, whenever there is an increase in HbA1c levels in the blood, it is offset by a decrease in the levels of 1.5 anhydroglucitol in the blood, as well as a similar relationship between the level of 1.5 anhydroclositol, sugar level, and average sugar. Therefore, we conclude that 1.5 anhydroglucitol can be used as an alternative means of monitoring blood sugar levels in patients with sickle cell trait
