The College of Dentistry University of Basrah organized the annual calendar conference for the academic year 2021-2022 under the mantra “Achievements and Future Aspirations” attended by members of the University Council, members of the College Council, professors and members of the College.
The conference was opened with a blessed recitation from the Holy Qur’an, followed by the national anthem and a tribute to the souls of the martyrs.
The Dean of the College, Assistant. Professor Dr. Fateh Al-Khakani, shed some light on the strengths and achievements of the past academic year and the mechanisms of the proposed solutions, mentioning the community services provided by the college to Basrah community and the central and southern governorates, which he described as qualitative services as the oral health care project targeting the kindergarten segment, children's schools, children with cancer diseases and the houses of orphans. In addition to the college’s educational role and the preparation of batches of qualified dentists, as they are granted a bachelor’s degree in in dentistry after a five-year study period.
On the other hand, Al-Khakani valued the efforts made by the President of the University of Basrah, Professor. Dr. Saad Shaheen Hamadi, and the collaborative efforts of the academic teaching personnel and employees of the college to overcome a large part of the obstacles that the college faced. While honoring the family of the late academic teacher, Hashim Saleh Ridha, who spent his life Is in the service of his country.
Al-Khaqani explained that the college, through Its open policy with government and private colleges and state institutions, signed several understanding letters of with the National University of Science and Technology In Dhi Qar Governorate, the College of Medicine, the University College Kunooz, and the Basra Health Department.
The conference included several aspects, the most important of which was the scientific one, during which the Dean's Assistant in Scientific Affairs, Lecturer.Dr. Sundus Abdul Wadood, presented scientific research, service projects, curriculums, conferences, courses, seminars and workshops.
The administrative aspect , which was presented by the Dean's Assistant in Administrative Affairs, Assistant. Professor Dr. Rafid Mustafa AlBadr, dealt with sources of Income and infrastructure, and the aspect of recommendations regarding the admission of students and teaching staff.
The conference aims to study the work policy adopted In the past year and to know the extent of its correctness to be followed in the coming years.
The conference came out with several recommendations, the most important of which Is determining the number of accepted students, seriously considering preparing the new building of the College of Dentistry in Bab Al-Zubair Colleges Compound, opening separate clinics for each material to ensure that the student can get the required training hours, and opening regional postgraduate studies.
