A doctoral thesis at the College of Fine Arts, University of Basrah, examined the pragmatics of the textual discourse and its transformations in the Iraqi theatrical performance. Actions, movements and gestures are among the most important elements of textual discourse and its transformations in theatrical performance.
The thesis discussed the concept of deliberation, which bears the characteristics of openness to neighboring studies and sciences, and draws on its common sources and intellectual and artistic foundations, which have lifted it from being a wastebasket to a theory distinguished by its entry into other disciplines and fields.The thesis aims to define the intellectual and philosophical premises of deliberation and the mechanisms of its operation in the discourse of the theatrical text and its transformation into the structure of theatrical performance.
The thesis concluded that the deliberative theory helps the senders of theatrical performances to study and analyze the textual discourse and elevate it to an accomplished act within a cultural and social system that is linked to the cultural and social references of the senders of the show and the recipients at the same time.
