Include investigate the molecular characterization of clinical isolates of macrolide-resistant S. aureus isolated from wound patients , genotypic detection of the type of erythromycin ribosome methylase (erm) gene and the type of the macrolide streptogramin-B resistance (msrA/B) gene in S. aureus isolates.
The study concluded that Many wound infections that are caused by S. aureus isolates possess the erm gene and msr gene that gives the ability to resist macrolide antibiotic and it recommended that regional surveillance programs and epidemiological studies on the reasons for the spread of antibiotic resistance and the various resistance mechanisms to design better treatment and prevention strategies and adoption of the use of molecular methods and D-test and Vitek 2 system in the investigation and diagnosis of the macrolide-resistant S. aureus in the Microbiology laboratory of Iraqi Hospitals.
