The Continuing Education and Development Center at the University of Basrah organized a workshop on drug prevention.
The workshop aims to show the dangers of drugs to the individual and society, as they are toxins that flow in the blood of the abuser, and destroy the body of the community, which requires concerted efforts to limit its consumption and prevent it, as prevention is better than treatment.
The workshop, which was presented by Dr. Amer Abdul-Nabi Al-Abadi and Dr. Abdul-Karim Zayer Al-Mouzani, included the definition of drugs and psychotropic substances, the concept of addiction, and the characteristics of the addict.
In addition to the factors causing addiction: social, religious, economic and domestic, as well as personal factors and the physical, psychological, economic, social and security health effects resulting from addiction and how to take preventive measures to reduce addiction starting from the role of the family, school, university, religious, social and legal institutions, and media and security institutions.
