
The Central Committee for Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Safety and Security (CBRN - SS) at the University of Basrah held its first meeting for the academic year 2022-2023 in the presence of former committee heads and a number of civil defense officers in the governorate.
The meeting included several topics, including honoring the former head of the CBRN-SS Committee, Dr. Hadi Salman Al-Lami, in order to end his assignment from the presidency of the committee and to refer him to retirement.
The official of the Department of Control of Hazardous and Toxic Substances and Chairman of the Central Committee of CBRN-SS at the University of Basrah, Dr. Tahseen Ali Saki, stated that the meeting focused on several topics under discussion, the most important of which is the allocation of budgets within colleges and research centers for maintenance and sustainability work in order to achieve safety and chemical security and activate ministerial orders related to this.
As well as the formation of supportive teams of outstanding students to educate their colleagues, record negative comments, if any, and work to establish central stores with specifications that guarantee the most important safety standards, especially stores of dangerous and prohibited materials, in addition to activating work on the CAT program to control the circulation of chemicals within the university.
