The Development and Continuing Education Center at the University of Basrah organized a drug prevention workshop on the investment of energies, money and time.
The workshop aims to show the danger of drugs to the individual and society, as they are toxins that flow in the blood of the abuser, to destroy the body of the community, and to exhaust it, which requires concerted efforts to limit its consumption and prevent it, as it is better than treatment.
The workshop, which was presented by Dr. Amer Abdul-Nabi Al-Abadi and Dr. Abdul-Karim Zayer Al-Mouzani, included the definition of drugs and psychotropic substances, the concept of addiction, and the characteristics of the addict.
In addition to the factors causing addiction: social, religious, economic and family, as well as personal factors and the physical, psychological, economic, social and security health effects resulting from addiction and how to take preventive measures to reduce addiction starting from the role of the family, school and university, and religious, social, legal, media and security institutions.
In the end, the recommendation was that the family should play its humane educational role in raising children.
