A scientific research team from the University of Basrah, consisting of Dr. Marwan Yassin Abdel Majeed, Dr. Ahmed Abd Berghal, and researcher Israa Asaad Aziz, discovered a disease for the first time in the world, which is the infection of a patient's eye in Basra Governorate with a new microbe, and this case is recorded for the first time in the world through a master's project.
This infection was recorded with the participation of the scientific research team at the AMMI Canada-CACMID Annual Conference held in Vancouver, Canada, between 5-8 April 2022.
The summary of the research was accepted after being approved by the competent committee of the conference in Canada and published in the form of a summary in Journal of the Association of Medical Microbiology and Infectious Disease Canada (JAMMI) published by the University of Toronto.
This global achievement is a real leap by the scientific team to raise the flag of Iraq high on the horizon of scientific research and an effective contribution to raising the name of the University of Basrah to raise its research level to the best ranks among local and international universities.
