The Department of Architecture at the College of Engineering at the University of Basrah, in cooperation with the Department of Architecture at the University of Baghdad, held a joint scientific workshop entitled (Digital Architecture - Challenges and Opportunities), which was held at the University of Baghdad in the hall of Dr. Muhammad Muhammad Makiya in the Department of Architecture.
The workshop included two sessions, the first session was moderated by Dr. Abdul-Hussein Al-Askari from the University of Baghdad, and it included four specialized scientific lectures in the field of digital architecture. It dealt with the lectures delivered by Dr. Ahmed Luay from the University of Technology, Dr. Mustafa Walid from the Iraqi University, and Dr. Zuhair Nassar from the University of Kufa and the teacher. Assistant Ahmed Essam, University of Baghdad, Topics of Digital Architecture, Its current developments and its theoretical concepts, scientific techniques and practical practices.
As for the second session, it included two lectures, the first lecture by Dr. Ghada Razzouqi from the University of Baghdad and the second by Dr. Tahseen Ali from the University of Basra. The two lectures discussed, respectively, the developments of architectural study curricula in Iraqi universities since their inception until now, and the possibility of updating and developing these curricula to enable them to accommodate the requirements of digital architecture, describing the latter A realistic necessity and an urgent need imposed by the developments of the digital age on all scientific fields, including architecture.
The workshop was attended by a large number of professors of architecture in various Iraqi universities and a number of specialists in various institutions, in the presence of the Dean of the College of Engineering, Dr. Ramzy Salim Ali, and the Dean of the College of Engineering at the University of Baghdad, Dr. Saba Jabbar Nima. The scientific lectures in the two sessions were followed by discussions, inquiries and answers contributed by a large number of attendees as well as the lecturers. The workshop concluded with many recommendations that focused on the importance of the subject and the need to pay attention to it and work to achieve it through the concerted efforts of all concerned in submitting these recommendations as proposals to the competent authorities working within the institutions and committees of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
