The College of Medicine at the University of Basrah, as part of the continuing medical education activities, organized an awareness lecture on breast cancer given by Dr. Lama Ahmed Abdullah.
The lecture dealt with identifying the risk factors for breast cancer that may cause the occurrence of this disease, namely: the woman’s family and personal history of breast cancer, age as that the peak age of infection is from 45-55 years, and there are other factors such as exposure to radiation, hormonal drugs use, taking birth control pills, bad eating habits, and smoking.
The lecture also touched on symptoms, causes, and appropriate treatment for each stage of the disease.
It is worth mentioning that breast cancer is one of the most common cancers among women in the world.
