The College of Dentistry University of Basrah conducted a field visit to the Specialized Center for Oncology and Hematology as a part of the College's service project for the academic year 2022/2023.
The visit, which was conducted by a number of specialized dentists and a group of fifth-stage students, aims to provide medical and moral support to the patients in the center.
The medical team examined 23 patients and set appointments for patients to visit the educational clinics of the college to receive appropriate treatment. The team also gave awareness and guidance lectures to patients on how to take care of the mouth and teeth in general.
The medical team discussed with the director of the center, Dr. Rafid Adel, the oral diseases associated with cancer because of the disease or because of the treatments used. The team recommended the need for a dentist to be present in the center to follow up on diseases related to the mouth and teeth and treat them early.
