A scientific study, prepared by the researcher Tahrir Nahed Majeed and Dr. Ali Abdul-Razzaq Abdul-Wahed, was conducted in the College of Science at the University of Basrah, entitled (An efficient cheap source of activated carbon as solid phases for extraction and removal of Congo Red from aqueous solutions).
The study, which was published in the Analytical Methods in Environmental Chemistry Journal, classified within Scopus 3q containers, showed that the preparation of activated carbon is from multiple natural and cheap sources, which are the leaves of Sidr plants, carpis and yas, and using it as a solid phase in the solid phase extraction technique to remove Congo red dye from its solutions.
