The College of Pharmacy at the University of Basrah organized a seminar entitled (Nanofiber Drug Delivery System), with the participation of researchers and specialists.
The seminar included a lecture by Dr. Ahmed Abdel Karim, in which he discussed methods of manufacturing nanofibers and the possibility of using these fibers as an innovative means to load and release drugs inside the human body in the required quantity and with high efficiency.
Emphasis was also placed on the electrospinning method and the device designated for that purpose, as well as the factors affecting the quality of the product, such as the type of liquid used, the electric potential difference, the type of polymer, as well as weather conditions such as temperature and humidity.
Dr. Ahmed Abdel Karim also identified the importance of this method to increase its solubility and release the drug significantly; in addition to, the importance of these fibers for treating burns and reducing their inflammation significantly.
