The College of Education for Human Sciences at the University of Basrah organized a workshop entitled (Reluctance from reading among university youth)
The workshop aims to identify the most important reasons behind the phenomenon of reluctance to reading among students, and to introduce the importance of reading in the development of mental abilities (synthetic analysis).
The workshop included several topics on the benefits of reading, reading tendencies, and the factors influencing the formation of reading tendencies. It also dealt with the role of society and the family in addressing the phenomenon of reluctance to read among students, and what is the role of the university library in addressing reluctance to read.
At the end of the workshop, it was recommended that families encourage their teenage children to read and take them to the library and go with them to buy books that fit their interests.
