The University of Basrah inaugurated the Arab Cultural Center at Ferdowsi University in Mashhad Governorate in the Islamic Republic of Iran, on the establishment of the Iraqi-Iranian cultural week, in which the university participates in many events.
Regarding the goal of opening the center, Prof. Dr. Saad Shaheen Hammadi, President of the University, said, “By God’s grace, we opened the Arab Cultural Center for Teaching Arabic Language and Literature at Ferdowsi University, which is run jointly with the affiliated university, which provides an opportunity for Iranians interested in learning Arabic language and literature, as well as for students who wish to study in Iraqi universities, including ours, and the center grants a certificate proved by both sides in passing the Arabic language course.
Shaheen added - our university's participation in the Iraqi-Iranian cultural week on its first day included participation in the joint fine art exhibition by displaying fine paintings of contemporary Iraqi art to familiarize the other about Iraqi culture, and it is an opportunity to exchange experiences and cross-fertilize ideas between different art schools. The exhibition was admired by the Iranian public, in addition to the opening of an exhibition of Arabic and translated books, and a concert presented by a group of university musicians, with our holding a joint administrative meeting to activate the mechanisms of visits between professors of the two universities and joint supervision of postgraduate students.
It is worth mentioning that the University of Basrah will hold a similar cultural week in the coming days with Iranian universities, including Tehran University of Medical Sciences, Iran University and Amir Kabir University, as part of the scientific memorandums of understanding concluded between the parties.
