
The College of Dentistry University of Basrah organized a workshop on communication skills for dentists for a period of three days, in which dentists from various health institutions in Basra governorate participated.
The workshop dealt with the verbal and non-verbal skills of dentists, which focus on the patient, and include the doctor's movement, eye contact, tone of voice, tone of speech, receiving and welcoming the patient, active listening, and giving the patient sufficient information about his disease.
The workshop discussed suffering and (story-based medicine) and the Importance of medical dialogue between the patient and the doctor during the medical Interview in which the patient describes life during suffering from his illness.
The workshop aims to avoid some of the common mistakes made by the dentist and build confidence with the patient to provide high quality medical care.
