The Department of History at the College of Arts at the University of Basrah held two-panel discussions for postgraduate students in Islamic history chaired by Prof. Dr. Tawfiq Dawai Musa, and two panel discussions in modern and contemporary history moderated by Prof. Dr. Hani Obaid Zubari. The panel discussions for students included several topics, as follows:
1- The military movements of the city-state towards the Romans and their allies from the Levantine Arabs 1-11 AH, a critical study of the Arab narratives, by the master’s student, Mahmoud Khalaf Bashir.
2- The book Rabi` al-Athar by al-Zamakhshari, a source for the study of social life in the Arab Islamic state until the end of the Umayyad era 132 AH, by the student Donia Qasim Jabr.
3 - Financial management in ancient Iraq from the dawn of the dynasties until the fall of Babylon 2880-539 BC, by doctoral student Maha Jawad. .
4- The Palestinian Farmer during the British Mandate 1920-11948, by master's student Ali Dakhil Muhammad.
5- European Women in the Middle Ages from 400-1100 AD, by PhD student Hanadi Abdel-Azim Safar.
The students reviewed the title and contents of their dissertations, and they were discussed by the attending professors who presented their interventions, with the aim of strengthening and providing students with what serves scientific research.
