The Department of Geology at the College of Science organized a panel discussion entitled (Studying facies anisotropy and its impact on the movement of aquifer water progression in the Mushrif Formation in the Rumaila oil field, southern Iraq). The seminar, in which the researcher Safa Hazem Hamid lectured, aims to identify the facies of the Mushrif Formation in petrographically selected wells from the Rumaila field, in order to determine its basic components and texture characteristics, and to identify the sedimentary environment of the formation through the description and analysis of the available cores and various palpation data, and to study the facies and lithographic changes horizontally and vertically in the field of study. By using the photomicrometric resistivity records and comparing them with the available core description for sedimentary interpretation to understand and identify the facies in wells that do not contain cores.
