A scientific study at the College of Science, University of Basrah, investigated the effect of Ag and Pb accumulation on some biochemical variables and anatomical characteristics of Sesuvium portulacastrum L. (Aizoaceae) plants.
The study, which was published in the Qazvin Journal of Environmental Sciences, classified within the Scopus Q1 containers, revealed the progress of EDS / SEM technology, a new method for analyzing the composition of heavy metals in plant tissues and organs.
The anatomical study included that Ag and Pb can accumulate in the internal tissues and cause many changes such as the shape of leaves, stems, roots, thickness and number of cortical parenchymal cells.
The study recommended that S. portulacastrumis is suitable for plant extraction or treatment and has high tolerance to lead and stone accumulation.
