
The Ambassador of the Republic of India, Mr. Prashant Bisai, and his accompanying delegation visited the University of Basrah and met with the President of the University, Dr. Saad Shaheen Hammadi, and a number of officials.
The president of the university welcomed the visiting guest and his accompanying delegation, explaining to him the great scientific status of the University of Basrah as the second largest university in Iraq and its attainment of the first ranks in the international and local rankings.
Shaheen stressed the need for scientific and research cooperation and exchange of experiences between the University of Basrah and Indian universities, in addition to the fact that the number of Iraqi students studying in India contributed to expanding the horizons of mutual cultural openness.
For his side, the Indian ambassador expressed his happiness at meeting these great academic energies, describing the Indian and Iraqi relations as deep-rooted, and announced the imminent launch of the Indian cultural week at the University of Basrah, which will coincide with the Republic Day of India.
