The Continuing Education and Development Center at the University of Basrah organized a workshop on metacognitive learning and education.
The aim of the workshop is to provide new teachers with the skills of learning and teaching metacognitive skills.
The workshop, presented by Dr. Refaat Abdullah Jassim, included an introduction to the nature and benefits of thinking, and meta-cognitive thinking skills for teachers and students and then explained some of the skills and applications above knowledge that the teacher can use personally to develop his mental skill, as well as teaching them to his students to enhance their learning process and improve their academic achievement, and their performance later in the labor market.
In the end, the recommendation was to generalize the use of metacognitive skills in the process of teaching students, as well as in preparing teachers, given that these skills have become necessary in the modern educational process, as proven by many studies and research around the world.
