The College of Dentistry University of Basrah held a scientific lecture regarding the risk biopsy in tumor progression of metastasis our experience in oral squamous cell carcinoma, which was delivered by Dr. Ali Abbas Al-Shawi.
Al-Shawi stressed the importance of taking the sample for cancer patients, which is considered the basis for diagnosing the disease, taking into account not repeating the sample taking more than once and delaying the surgery for more than five days, which may be one of the serious causes of the spread of the cancerous tumor.
Even more, Al-Shawi referred to some documented scientific studies that prove the validity of his research and observations during the long period of practicing his profession in maxillofacial surgery at Basrah General Hospital and coexistence with the pathological conditions that cancer patients suffer from.
Al-Shawi stressed the need to constantly alert surgeons to the importance of the practical application of these studies in their work, and that ignoring them is the most dangerous thing to the patient's life.
