The instructors Ali Khammas, Dr. Khawla Salman, and Dr. Hussein Nasser Al-Salman at the College of Pharmacy at Basrah University published a research entitled (A New Spectra Method for Estimation and Evaluation of the Gabapentin Drug in Antiepileptic Pharmaceuticals) in the Dutch Journal for ReAttach Therapy and Developmental Diversities, which is classified within Scopus containers.
The research aimed to find a new spectrophotometric method for the determination of gabapentin in some of its pharmaceutical preparations and in its free form. This method is characterized by accuracy and high sensitivity, as it is an easy and inexpensive method.
This new method was applied to many pharmaceutical preparations taken from the market and proved to be highly sensitive, as the method depends on the oxidation of gabapentin by iron (pH4).
The study concluded that by applying the method to some pharmaceutical preparations, it is suitable for the spectroscopic assessment of epilepsy drugs without the presence of interference.
