The Department of Geology at the College of Science organized a panel discussion entitled (Geotechnical Evaluation of Load Layers in Selected Areas of Dhi Qar Governorate). The seminar in which the researcher Saja Majed Abdel-Sada lectured aims to calculate the depth of the layers with sufficient load capacity to carry the piles in Dhi Qar Governorate, draw the geometric stratigraphic sequence of the load-bearing layers, and calculate some geotechnical properties by indirect methods based on -valueN and make a 3D-profile for some geotechnical properties.
The study included conducting a standard penetration test at different depths in the body to measure the standard penetration resistance (N-value) in different soils according to the method adopted in the British Standard (BS 5930: 1981). Soil samples in the study area were classified according to the Unified Soil Classification and according to the standard. (ASTM D 2487 -83) based on the results of particle size analysis and the Atterberg limits.
