The College of Education for Human Sciences organizes a symposium on drugs within the framework of community service.
As part of its relentless endeavor to take its role in community service, and to treat some societal diseases, the College of Education for Human Sciences - University of Basra organized a symposium entitled (Drugs in the Balance).
The symposium was presented by (Professor. Batoul Ghaleb Al-Nahi), (Professor Zainab Faleh Al-Shawi) and (M. Asmaa Saleh). Participants' lectures included identifying the concept of drugs and their types, the reasons for their abuse, and the implications of that, with a focus on the student's role in spreading community awareness to reduce this phenomenon, and proposing appropriate solutions to eliminate this phenomenon,
The symposium recommended the following:
First: The need to develop integrated programs to educate university students about the severe health and social harms resulting from drug abuse. In order to build the future generation on a solid base of awareness and education, in the sense of introducing the subject of drugs and psychotropic substances in university programs.
Secondly - the formation of a specialized committee of all official and popular bodies (health - social - economic - legal - intellectual - popular institutions such as professional clubs and associations and others); To participate in the awareness campaign and reveal the real causes of the problem.
Third - Emphasizing the role of the family in creating economic, social and health conditions, in order to raise children on sound morals and foundations that protect them from falling into the trap of drugs.
Fourth - Paying attention to raising awareness of the base by starting to spread the culture of combating drugs and sound upbringing, starting from schools.
