a PhD thesis in the College of Engineering at the University of Basrah discussing (a study of the development of intelligent vehicles adapted to the known road properties) The thesis presented by the student Mahmoud Shaker Mahmoud Studying the characteristics and effectiveness of a new type of vehicle active suspension (combining an air suspension suspension with a hydraulic actuator for additional force that resists vibrations coming from the road) through the modeling and simulation mechanism and the design of the control unit. In this study, a mathematical model of pneumatic suspension was created, and a control unit was designed for the air suspension variables, vertical acceleration, and road holding , and continuously reduce vertical displacement based on the control units that were used for non-linear air suspension systems. Six different types of control were designed, and to choose the best control mechanism among them, comparisons were made between them against the different types of methods. The thesis aims to study and develop an intelligent suspension system for vehicles that adapts to known road properties. Thesis concluded that the Fuzzy Logic Active Force Controller outperforms other types of controllers in terms of efficiency and durability for comfort and stability on the road. The non-linear suspension models of the four-wheel vehicle were also compared and simulated without applying a control mechanism (traditional air spring and Gensys type) in terms of suspension mass acceleration, dynamic load factor and vertical displacement through (RMS). The results obtained by comparing them indicate that the Gensys type is more efficient than the traditional type.
