The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, honored the distinguished researchers and the winners of the Al-Ain Prize for Iraqi academic scientific researchers.
This came during a ceremony held by Al-Ain University in its third edition, in the presence of university presidents, the academics syndicate, a group of researchers, a group of faculty members, and a number of officials from Dhi Qar Governorate.
In his speech, the Minister of Higher Education called for intensifying the fields of applied research that serve the labor market and the institutions of the public and private sectors, pointing at the same time to the importance of developing research and scientific outputs and their quality in universities, increasing their impact globally, and providing appropriate financial support for the research environment. He also directed to honor the distinguished researchers in the field of discreet global publishing and award them the Medal of Scientific Excellence.
The Minister of Higher Education stated that the responsibilities of all higher education institutions will be doubled in the coming years, pointing out that the pattern of university education is no longer limited to traditional paths and systems, which requires enabling universities to keep pace with the changes that require a deliberate shift in the level of interaction and methods of teaching and learning.
In this context, the Undersecretary for Scientific Research Affairs, Dr. Haider Abd Dhahad, presented a speech that included the ministry's direction and policy in the field of supporting scientific research and global publishing, while the President of Al-Ain University reviewed the indicators of Iraqi scientific research and the mechanisms for selecting the winners and distinguished in the Al-Ain Award for Academic Researchers, and then called on the President of the Iraqi Academics Syndicate to support the scientific research environment and enhance the levels of excellence among researchers.
