A research team at the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Basrah, consisting of Dr. Wasfi Abboud Al-Masoudi, Dr. Ali Balboul Al-Diwan, Dr. Basil Abdel Zahra Abbas, Dr. Muhammad Hassan Khader and Dr. Nawras Nuri Jaber, won the gold medal from the International Exhibition of Inventions in the Middle East held in Kuwait.
The invention was titled (Preparation of a new derivative of Cephalexin as an antibiotic for methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and some multi-antibiotic-resistant bacteria).
