The Department of Ecology at the College of Science at the University of Basra organized a seminar on improving the physicochemical and biological properties of wastewater of some Basra hospitals using extracts of some local plants.
The seminar, in which postgraduate student Dhi Jabbar Idan lectured, aims to study the physical, chemical and biological characteristics and to determine the microbial contamination of wastewater in some hospitals in Basra Governorate before and after treatment in biological treatment plants.
The episode dealt with the use of henna and elias extracts as a physical, chemical and biological treatment for wastewater.
The workshop recommended adopting biological treatment using different environmentally friendly materials and using them as antibacterials for the types of disease bacteria isolated in them.
